Ministers bunk secretariat, grievances pile up

Hyderabad, August 6: Even as the Telangana government has approved the construction of new secretariat in Secunderabad, most of the ministers are not visiting secretariat for a long time.

It is observed that out 17 ministers only few are regularly seen in the secretariat looking after the public grievances and department works. Few ministers are not seen in secretariat for over three months.

Deputy Chief Minister Mahmood Ali, Home Minister Nayini Narasimha Reddy and Talasani Srinivas Yadav are the regularly visiting ministers. Most of the visitors are returning back after knowing that the minister concerned were not in the office.

Following this situation, the number of visitors with grievances was also decreased. It is believed that ministers preferred to stay in the constituencies following the instructions of Chief Ministe KCR.

KCR has done several surveys in order to assess the public mood and their complaints and based on the experts’ advise ministers were asked to stay in their constituencies more than in secretariat.

Interestingly, Haritha Haram program has become the major reason for ministers to interact with the people directly and let them feel close to the government. This has led many files in the secretariat pending for weeks.

Since the secretariat is the centre of administration in the state, most of people visit ministers with their grievances. Absence of ministers has led to pending of 70,000 files in the secretariat so far.
